More thoughts on Stewardship

Pastor Rodney Wilson from CRCC sent me this after Sunday's message on "Readying the Church through Stewardship":

So, we were talking about this Sunday, Bishop.  We are stewards over God's commands, His words, our children, etc.  We are stewards over every bit of knowledge He gives us. This is a pattern and it's everywhere in God's Word.

I was reading Judges 1 and 2 this morning.  It's amazing that the children of Israel who entered the Promised Land were stewards over God's covenant (Joshua 24).  But because they compromised on sin (Judges 1:27-34) and failed in their stewardship, "there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work that he had done for Israel" (Judges 2:10).  THIS generation "did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and served Baals."

....all because of poor stewardship in a prior generation.

How we study God's word, train our children, shepherd our congregants, demonstrate holiness, and preach His word, WILL impact the next generation in some way. How great will it be for our great grandchildren to say that, "our great grand parents did what was RIGHT in the eyes of the Lord and their arose yet ANOTHER generation that knew the Lord..."

I agree totally Pastor.  May the Lord help us see that our money, our children, our relationships, our preaching of the Gospel, or discipling of others, and even our very lives can rightly be viewed as a divine stewardship from Him.  Viewing life that way can radically change how we spend our short time on this earth....

Money Advice from Proverbs

Biblical wisdom literature is SO rich with practical advice and principles that it continues to blow me away.  I ran across the below PDF online.  I cannot vouch for the group who made it, but the money-related proverbs are wonderful.  Give it a read...

I believe with all my heart that God's holy church must "get ready through stewardship" for what is ahead.

Debt Clock  Yikes! :)

There will be so many people to help, bless, and serve...we MUST become better stewards in case our Lord tarries.  Biblical prosperity doesn't come because we are saved but because we save!  LOL!  Jesus' death wasn't to make us rich with material wealth, but as Christians we still do have a responsibility to be excellent managers of what God has given.

Remember, the MOMENTUM question is, "What could the people of God, do for the Kingdom of God if they were debt free?" Let's find out! ;)

Praying for our Government Officials

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Father, we ask Your blessings upon these men and women.  We pray that you save who isn't saved, and give godly wisdom to them as they lead.  We ask that you guide them to serve in righteousness, with Your standards as their targets.  We pray You help them honor Your Commandments and Your Word in their leadership.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
